Modesty and Sex

I am a HUGE fan of the blog, Adventures in Parenting. You may remember that Katy Lee wrote a wonderful post called “Overcoming Materialism” for my blog last week. If you missed it, here’s the link. Every week, Katy has some great insights about teen life. And her writing style is chatty (and I mean that in the best sense of the word, Katy!) and easy-to-read.

About two weeks ago, Katy did a series of posts on MODESTY and SEX. I was so impressed with all of them, that I am linking to them on my blog. Just scroll down and enjoy!

Are we done sexualizing underage girls?  Moms for modesty

This one has a podcast with Teen Maven, Vanessa Van Petten.  Talking to your teen about modesty

Excellent suggestions for teaching your children about sex and intimacy.  Teaching your children about sex.

  1. Thank you so much, Margit. It is my hope us parents like you and I join together to raise the next generation to be “good” kids.

  3. Thanks for the links! This a topic that is so important! I wanted to share this with you from Time Magazine, “…in 2003, tweens-that highly coveted marketing segment ranging from 7-12- spent $1.6 million on thong underwear.” That is just outrageous! (This is why I love this post because you are giving parents resources to help them combat sexualization) I work for an organization that is speaking out against this and we are getting a petition signed and sent to fashion indsutry leaders to make them aware that sexaulization of these little girls are unacceptable! Take a minute a sign the petition…you can find it at secretkeepergirl.com.
